Behind The Brand: Feature with Shoutout LA
We had the good fortune of connecting with Shoutout LA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Q: Hi Roderick, how do you think about risk?
A: Risk is an opportunity. When I look back at the past 10 years of my career, my first risk was deciding to enter the space of creativity. Following my passion and not going the standard route was itself a risk I took to ensure myself an authentic opportunity. At an early age, I understood what I wanted to do and how I would get there. Providing myself the opportunity to create new products and share them with others, outweighed the fear and risk that is often self-generated.
With The Shop Los Angeles, I have the freedom to constantly create, challenge myself, and build a community of people willing to do the same. I never knew I was taking a risk, I was just taking the next step in my life
Q: Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A: The Shop Los Angeles is a clothing brand focused on creating elevated closet staples. I am excited to bring our operations to the US and expand our product line domestically. My professional journey began at FIDM and being around people in the industry. Growing up with parents who are also in the industry, made it a natural environment for me and I am proud to have the opportunity to work in this space. Challenges were always present in my journey but maintaining perspective about what was important and how to bounce back helped me along the way. A few lessons I have learned are to focus on the big picture, be kind to others, and never stop improving.
Here at The Shop, our customers do not have to compromise who they are or who they desire to be to wear our clothing. Their confidence is expressed when wearing our clothes. Not for Everyone, Definitely for You.
Q: Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A: Having the luxury to live in Los Angeles, California, my itinerary would consist of enjoying the waves at Dockweiller Beach, checking out Old School Vintage in San Pedro, getting drinks at the Bungalow in Santa Monica, eating hot dogs at an LA Dodger game, having dinner at Xyta in the Fashion District, purchasing home goods at Olive Atelier, and heading to the greatest show in town to watch the Lakers play at the Crypto.com Arena.
Q: Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A: To my mom and dad, you’ve provided me with a secure foundation and taught me a lot about how to run a business and build relationships with others, which has been a vital part of my success.
To Itzetl, for translating my thoughts and words into lucid messages.
To Lennox, my business partner, for continuously taking risks with me and believing we can do something that can impact more than ourselves. Your belief and trust have gotten us this far.
To the community of manufacturers, customers, and like-minded creatives who have come out of this process. We will continue to keep building and we could not be here without any of you.
